Spirax Sarco Fig 16 and Fig 16L are 316/316L austenitic stainless steel screwed Y-type strainers for steam and condensate, featuring 0.8mm standard screens and options for food contact applications.

Spirax Sarco fig16 Fig 16, Fig 16L Austenitic Stainless Steel Y-Type Strainers

Spirax Sarco Fig 16 and Fig 16L are austenitic stainless steel screwed Y-type strainers designed to remove suspended particles from pipelines, protecting downstream equipment like control valves and steam traps. The Fig 16 is constructed from 316 stainless steel (ASTM A351 Gr. CF8M), while the Fig 16L utilizes 316L (ASTM A351 Gr. CF3M) for enhanced corrosion resistance. These strainers are ideal for steam, condensate, water, oil, and gas applications in industrial environments, offering a robust design rated to ANSI 600 conditions.

Product Configuration and Options

The standard configuration includes a 0.8 mm perforated stainless steel screen. For specialized process requirements, a range of optional screens is available:

  • Stainless Steel Screens: Perforations of 1.6 mm and 3 mm; Mesh sizes of 40, 100, and 200.
  • Monel Screens: Perforations of 0.8 mm and 3 mm; 100 Mesh.
  • Blowdown/Drain Connections: The strainer cap can be drilled and tapped to allow for the installation of blowdown or drain valves.

Fig 16L Food+ and Regulatory Compliance

The Fig 16L Food+ variant is specifically designed, manufactured, and approved for food-contact processes. It complies with major international regulations, including:

  • (EC) 1935:2004 and (EC) 2023:2006 for materials in contact with food.
  • (EU) 10/2011 for plastic materials.
  • FDA Code of Federal Regulations title 21.
