BURKERT 349981 Type 2031 2/2-Way Diaphragm Valve

Burkert Type 2031 2/2-way diaphragm valve (SKU 349981) features a pneumatic PA actuator and 65mm nominal size. Ideal for hygienic and aggressive media.

BURKERT 349981 Type 2031 2/2-Way Diaphragm Valve

Burkert Type 2031 (SKU 349981) is an externally controlled 2/2-way diaphragm valve consisting of a pneumatically operated piston actuator, a diaphragm, and a valve body. The proven and robust actuator ensures reliable operation in hygienic or aggressive environments. The flow-optimized valve body with minimal dead space enables high volume flow rates and a wide range of possible applications. The actuator has a compact, autoclavable design.

Control Functions

The valve is configured for Control Function A (CF A): Pneumatically operated 2/2-way on/off valve, bidirectional, normally closed by spring force in the rest position.

Approvals and Conformities

  • Explosion Protection: ATEX (EPS 18 ATEX 2 008 X II 2G Ex h IIC T4…T2 Gb / II 2D Ex h IIIC T135 °C…T300 °C Db) and IECEx.
  • Hygiene: 3-A Sanitary Standards Inc., FDA (Code of Federal Regulations), USP Class VI, and EC Regulation 1935/2004 for food and beverages.
  • Others: TA Luft.

Materials

Burkert 349981 actuator size 40 to 125 material specifications

  • Actuator: Polyamide (PA) or Polyphenylene sulphide (PPS).
  • Valve Body: Forged stainless steel (1.4435/316L), Tube valve body, Cast valve body, or Plastic (PVC-C, PVC-U, PP, PVDF).
  • Diaphragm: EPDM (AD), PTFE/EPDM (EA), Advanced PTFE/EPDM (EU), or laminate of GYLON and EPDM (ER).

Technical Data

  • Nominal Diameter: DN 06 to DN 100 (1/8" to 4").
  • Pilot Pressure: 4.7 to 6 bar (for SKU 349981). Maximum pilot pressure is 7 bar for PPS actuators (sizes 40-125) and 6 bar for PA actuators (sizes 175-225).
  • Ambient Temperature: -10 °C to +60 °C for PA actuators (size ≤ 125 mm).

Medium Temperature for Diaphragms

The specified medium temperatures only apply to media that do not attack the diaphragm materials or cause it to swell up. Do not use the diaphragms as a steam shut-off element.

Diaphragm MaterialMedium TemperatureComments
EPDM (AD)-10 °C to +143 °CSteam sterilization max. +150 °C for 60 min
PTFE/EPDM (EA)-10 °C to +130 °CSteam sterilization max. +140 °C for 60 min
Advanced PTFE/EPDM (EU)-5 °C to +143 °CSteam sterilization max. +150 °C for 60 min
GYLON and EPDM (ER)-5 °C to +130 °CSteam sterilization max. +140 °C for 60 min

Installation Note

The diaphragm valve can be installed in any position, preferably with the actuator facing up. For leakage detection, one of the relief bores in the diaphragm bonnet must be at the lowest position. Ensure the correct self-draining angle is maintained during installation.
