BURKERT 20137410 Pneumatically Operated 2/2-Way Globe Valve (Type 2101)

The BURKERT 20137410 (Type 2101) is a pneumatically operated 2/2-way globe valve specially optimised for decentralised process automation. It meets all practical requirements even under difficult operating conditions. Its unique design allows easy integration of automation units in all expansion stages, from electrical/optical position feedback to pneumatic control and integrated fieldbus interface. Maximum service life and tightness are achieved by the proven self-adjusting v-seal packing gland. The highly integrated system of valve and automation unit is characterised by its compact and smooth design, integrated pilot air ducts, protection classes IP65/67, NEMA Type 4X, and high resistance to chemicals.

BURKERT 20137410 Type 2101 pneumatically operated 2/2-way globe valve overview

Structure and Function

The globe valve consists of a pneumatically actuated piston actuator and a 2-way body. The actuator is made from polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) or stainless steel (for actuator size 225).

BURKERT 20137410 Type 2101 structure and description diagram

Depending on the variant, the valve seat is closed in the direction of or against the medium flow. Spring force (CFA) or pneumatic pilot pressure (CFB and CFI) generate the closing force on the swivel plate. A spindle connected to the actuator piston transmits the force.

Control Functions and Flow Direction

Control function A (CFA): Pneumatically operated 2/2-way on/off valve. Normally closed by spring force.

Flow direction below seat

Depending on the variant, the valve is closed against the medium flow either with spring force (control function A, CFA) or pilot pressure (control function B or I, CFB or CFI). As the medium is present under the swivel plate, the operating pressure contributes to the opening of the valve.

WARNING

Valve leak if there is too little minimum pilot pressure or high operating pressure! Minimum pilot pressure that is too low, or failing to meet the permitted operating pressure, can cause a leak in the valve seat. ▶ Adhere to minimum pilot pressure. ▶ Do not exceed the operating pressure.

Technical Data and Operating Conditions

BURKERT 20137410 Type 2101 type label example

  • Operating medium: Steam, water, neutral gases, alcohols, oils, fuels, hydraulic fluids, salt solutions, organic solvents.
  • Medium temperature: -10 °C to +230 °C (High-temperature variant with PEEK seat seal).
  • Ambient temperature: -10 °C to +100 °C.
  • Viscosity: Max. 600 mm²/s.
  • Control medium: Air, neutral gases.

TIP

High-temperature variant: Thanks to an adaption of the packing gland, this variant is suitable for applications with steam, neutral gases and other heat transfer mediums up to +230 °C.

Installation Notes

  • The installation location must be easily accessible and provide sufficient clearance for installation, removal and maintenance of the device.
  • Use suitable lifting gear to lift a heavy device.
  • Only lift heavy valves by the valve body and pneumatic actuator, not by the control unit (if present).
  • Ensure that the pipes are aligned before connecting the valve.
  • Observe the direction of flow. Observe the information on the type label.
  • The globe valve can be installed in any position, preferably with the actuator facing upwards.

DANGER

Risk of injury from high pressure in the system or device. ▶ Before working on the system or device, switch off the pressure and ventilate or empty the lines.
